And apologies for the long silence with all the questions. Although there are loads more here that I haven’t answered, the one main question up in the air seems to be: will there be a season three or not?
The short answer: not yet
The long answer: not yet officially, because we have had no word from even Kawakami, who would probably be the most ecstatic about any news regarding S3. Is it in production? Maybe. Planning? Perhaps. Without any real insider info, there’s no real way to say for sure.
I wouldn’t hold my breath for it anytime soon though; it took over 2 years to make the 26 episodes of the Horizon anime, so unless they were already devoting time and effort to making it while it aired (which I doubt, as the studio’s efforts were concentrated on LoveLive), we won’t be getting any until late 2013 or 2014 at the earliest.
And even if there was news, I’d probably be the last to hear anyway. Still, I’ll update if any big news shows up.
By the way this place will be on hiatus because I have other things to do. Toodles ♪
Sad to say, but I due to academic reasons (ergo, concentrating on my thesis and trying not to fail out of a scholarship for my masters), I have decided to no longer continue maintaining this infodump, as well as the scanlations.
This site will continue to stay up, but content will no longer be updated. Any questions sent here will be ignored.
Rest assured that shirts will still be sent.
I suppose it’s rather obvious that this was an April Fools thing. I am rather fond of jokes in bad taste, after all.
Long time no see Sensei! Thanks for all the hard work as always. For people who are wondering about the circumstance for horizon on B-T. B-T has no control over their translators. All the translators are volunteers. Its just a tool to keep everything in order. The current active translator has decided to move all their translations to nanodesu. The translation isn't dead its just migrated. Whether it gets stalled or translated its up to the translators discretion after all.
Just publishing this to notify anyone following the project, as I’m reading (or at least, desperately trying to) the novels raw.
Right guys, so I’ve gotten word back from the shirt maker.
The tentative price for the embroidered shirts is 17 USD + shipping worldwide from the Philippines (yes, Philippines).
Based on the number of submissions from people interested, I’ll be making a small production run of 20 shirts for now. I also don’t have the money to have a larger inventory made at once too, so please understand. Student’s budget and all.
Sizes range from Asian S to XXXL (there may be larger sizes, but I haven’t inquired further yet). For Western sizes, simply increase by one size (ergo, a Western M is an Asian L). For comparison, I’m around 5’9 to 5’10, and though rather thin, I take an L size shirt (XL also works for me, but it’s a bit baggy). Note: XXL and XXXL sizes cost an additional dollar.
There are also women’s shirts available for those interested. These have shorter sleeves. They really will feel weird for men, so I wouldn’t suggest that guys wear these. But if you want one, just indicate that you want it for women.
I’ll be taking orders until we hit 20 shirts, or until the third week of January (in which case, I’ll just be making a bunch of medium and [mostly] large-size shirts to fill in the gap).
No payment upfront yet until the shirts are done, though it will be through PayPal - I’ll make a proper page for it then in case there are some leftover shirts in the inventory. For now, please send in a question with the following information:
Number of shirts
Sizes for each shirt (in case you’ll be getting some for other people)
Country of destination
Contact information (e-mail*, twitter, tumblr, any way I can reach you)
* - emails are blocked by default (a tumblr thing) so you can word it like so: emailaddress_at_mailprovider_dot_com
Alternately, send all that info to halvanhalev☆gmail。com
I was wondering if you knew about the ongoing Horizon manga, and the new (though quite minor) information it gives about the setting? For example, in chapter 5 it's explained that Neshinbara and Naomasa are (sort of) inherited names (they are derived from Ii Naomasa and Sakakibara Yasumasa).
Yes, actually, I do know about it - I’m the one translating it.
I don’t really try to publicize this stuff, so sorry if I caused a bit of confusion.
you might be able to work something out with the guy who does perplexitees (tumblr wont let me link, sorry about that) about your shirt idea, if you're interested. He deals with subtle anime/manga/vn references on his shirts, and they're pretty decent quality. It'd be printed, not embroidered though.
Yeah, that’s the thing, I’d want them embroidered so they can last longer than prints.
Regardless, I’ve already gotten a place that can do the shirts, so I just need a quote from them now. Should be within a reasonable cost.
sensei lance here you 2 a happy new year, and thanks for the charater chart. i loled when i saw persona-kun his equipment :) poor adele. also going lol over the handles they have, those are for the online chats correct?
Having, watched both seasons, and upon re-watching season 1, there was something that caught my interest. At the end of ep. 1, Tori states that his confession would essentially be picking a fight with the whole world. How does he know this? Did he know before hand, that Horizon had a deadly armament imbued into her? Even though in a later episode, it seemed like the news stunned everyone. If he did not know this before, what was his reason to believe his confession would cause world-wide issues?
As we saw in season 2, Toori was planning to get back all the armaments of deadly sins regardless of how the confession went. In this sense, we can see that he does have an idea of what they’re planning to do, though they were probably not privy to the whole thing about Horizon having a DSA inside her.
Kawakami being Kawakami, put together a bunch of charts in the encyclopedia compiling how every character calls each other character.
I’ve taken the liberty of translating them all and putting them in a spreadsheet. Because of the many, many different ways a certain thing can be said (I, you, etc.), I’ve been a lot more literal in translation, keeping honorifics when needed, and so on.
Sensei! Do you know where I could buy a copy of the newly released Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon Encyclopedia?
Unfortunately it’s a pre-order only item. Your best bet now would be Yahoo Auctions Japan. However, it first came out to 15,000 to 20,000 Yen. And now it’s running at three to four times the original price. You’d have to be desperate to get it.
Hopefully someone generous puts up scans sometime.
This is for the person who noted that Baka-tsuki seemed to have dropped the translation of the novels. I'm not certain if that's true since I don't keep up with the translation, but one of the translators seems to be working on it for NanoDesu now. They only have a few of the first chapters up, but they say their going to clean up/re-translate the older stuff then move on to the newer chapters.
Just a quick comment. There's a bit of a goof on the relationship chart at the top of the Character Profiles page. In the lower right, Miriam's name is mistakenly attached to the ghost. Thanks for all your hard work, Sensei!
Sensei, as Gin seems to have gravity control (shown by her manipulating the wood into the fire / Arcabuz Crus) would it be fair to say she's part automatic doll (her arms in for example)? P.s, thank you for the fantastic blog! There's a wealth of information on here and I'd be lost without your learned advice!
Actually Gin is a human; it just seemed to glow blue.
Also thanks! Good to know it’s being put to good use.
I have pre-ordered the limited editions of the second season of Horizon and they come with these neat little booklet things. Do you know if anyone has translated these? If not, do you know anyone who would because I could scan them?
I am pretty disconnected from the overall translation community, so I can’t really say who would be willing. If anything, I guess I could work on it, but there’s a lot of other stuff on my plate so I probably won’t even be able to start on it til next year.
Bitches&Whores does have a Mediafire Filedrop set up for any Horizon stuff if you would like to upload it there however. Files themselves can be accessed here.
Thanks for volunteering to scan and up them! The community pretty much revolves around stuff like this; sharing is caring, etc.
I believe that Season 3, "if" it gets greenlit, there wouldn't be an announcement until late next year. There is a PSP game of Horizon being released next year February so it is a good way to fill in the gaps between Season 2 and a potential Season 3 as it will keep the fans alive.
Well, it’s good to be optimistic!
I hope the game gets a release on the PSN though, I’m getting a Vita, but I don’t have a PSP.
So sensei, now that Season 2 is over and Season 3, while likely, hasn't been announced yet, has this turned out as you'd have hoped? The blog, I mean. Well, the blog and the show? DId you expect the traffic it got? Did you expect how popular the show was going to be, at least in Japan And most importantly, will you be back with us for Season 3 when it comes out?
God, good god. It went fine with season 1, but it just exploded by season 2. Ended up being so much work that I’m kinda glad that there’s no more Horizon for now so I won’t be working on this for a while. I have no idea how to check tumblr analytics, so I can’t really talk about the level of traffic this place got, but it certainly far exceeded expectations.
The show’s reception, I think, turned out so much better than expected. Both in Japan and outside. I mean, the sales figures speak for themselves I believe.
I certainly will still be around for season 3, but I don’t know if I can put as much time as I did back then into this. It’s hard work.
先生！ Baka-tsuki seemed to have dropped their translation of the Novels, do you happen to know of any other groups / locations that are working on this series? I read them on my phone whilst traveling on the London Underground and I don't want to go back to awkwardly avoiding peoples eyes! I'd much rather grin at my phone like Toori!
Wow, wait, they did? I thought that the translation was alive and well again.
In any case, there was this guy too. Dunno how far that’s going though.
Sorry, I’m not really keeping up to date with things.
Hey, I know this will probably be swept up in the onslaught of questions from the finale, but I just want to say, thanks for all your hard work once again, you really have been a cornerstone of the horizon fanbase and a top bro to boot. Hopefully an S3 will come along and we'll be able to appreciate your great effort and skill once more!
Ahh, thanks a lot. It did indeed get swept up, but it’s nice to know that I got to play a part.
I’m really hoping that S3 comes soon, and not anytime soon too, because there’s loads other things to get done now.
Hope we all get to stick around for the next voyage.
About the floating monitors people use to communicate with each other. Can anyone use it anytime, anywhere and see what they want to see? Or are all these meetings being broadcast somewhere all the time? I find it a little too convenient that people can just pop up their remote webcams everywhere and talk to everybody... I mean it's not like a cellphone where the recipient has to pick up the call, they can just pop it up on their own.
My theory is that citizens can choose to view signframes at any given time, as long as it’s publicly accessible.
However the visibility of signframes themselves is probably customizable. Like how in the Musashi-England conference, each nation could probably see their own, but not each others’ signframes, and so on.
During episode 9 season 1 when Futayo was fighting Kimi, Futayo was able to attack from multiple angles at once due to what looks likes to be from her contract ability. Was that the only time Futayo ever used that ability?
She struts her stuff during the Muneshige fight too, though it’s a mobile fight so it’s not as apparent.
